FACT:HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage
SYMPTOM:Vmotion stalls or freezes when moving data between different storage systems.
CAUSE:VMware is trying to use VAAI calls which only work within a storage system.
FIX:Workaround is to disable the VAAI options while doing the VMotion To disable the VAAI this VMware article will help. Click here for the VMWare article to disable VAAI. Problem occurred when trying to VMotion data from a 3PAR F400 system to a new StoreServ7000 system using ESX 5.x. VMotion would start and freeze at 10%. ESX logs show the following errors: 2013-07-31T03:39:46.671Z cpu18:8210)NMP: nmp_ThrottleLogForDevice:2319: Cmd 0x83 (0x4124403c9740, 91884) to dev "naa.60002ac0000000000000000200007a56" on path "vmhba3:C0:T0:L2" Failed: H:0x2 D:0x2 P:0x0 Possible sense data: 0xa 0xd 0x2. Act:EVAL The sense data 0xa (COPY ABORTED) 0xd 0x2 is (0Dh/02h DTLPWRO A K COPY TARGET DEVICE NOT REACHABLE) which is from the VAAI commands.
